Isn't it curious the way John tells the story of the footrace to the tomb? After hearing Mary Magdalene's report that the stone had been moved and Jesus' body stolen, Peter and John run to see for themselves. John gets there first, but he hesitates. He does not go in. It was an understandable hesitation. We don't want to go into the sad places. We don't want to go into the places of the unknown. We don't want to go to places of death and despair. This dark tomb represents evil. It represents sin. It represents sorrow.
