Joseph shows his brothers who he is. He acts.
On December 21, 1804, Benjamin Disraeli was born in London to a Jewish father and Italian mother. He was baptized as a Christian after his father quarreled with the rabbi of his synagogue (the event paved the way for an eventual political career, since Jews were excluded by law from serving in Parliament at the time). In 1826, the 22-year-old Disraeli became the talk of the town with his novel, Vivian Grey. Within a few years, while continuing to write novels, he decided to run for Parliament (he lost the first four elections, finally winning in 1837). He went on to become one of the most important figures in English history, twice serving as prime minister.
Disraeli said: "Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action. No government can be long secure without a formidable opposition."
