In the early 1980s, Queen Elizabeth II came to Canada for a royal tour. What a busy commotion was set in place when her itinerary was announced. One prairie city carefully mapped out the route the queen would take on her visit. All streets that the royal cavalcade would travel were repaved. Paint was given to all houses that lined the streets -- enough paint to cover the front of the house (the sides that couldn't be seen were the residents' responsibility!). The boulevards were given extra water so as to look lush and green. The hall where her reception would be held was completely made over. The way for Her Majesty, the Queen, was well prepared.
