Every parent knows how children can get into an argument over who is the "parental favorite." What seems to be an extra amount of attention or an unequal gift can be long remembered and called forth when some verbal ammunition is needed. Does love show partiality? No! The needs of a particular child may truly be unequal to a sibling ... time and certain circumstances may not be equalized but is love unequal? No. Both prodigal and elder brother are loved. God shows no partiality. His welcoming, inviting embrace is there for us all.
