The stories in the gospel...

The stories in the gospel today involve touching. Faith is often related to the simple act of touching. Nonetheless, there is a tendency on the part of many of us to hold back and not express our feelings.
Leo Buscaglia tells the story about the young man who decides he wants to learn how to better relate to other people. He goes to a bookstore and is hard-pressed to find anything to help him. He finally comes upon a book that seems practical. The book is titled How to Hug. When he returns home he discovers that he has bought Volume Nine of an encyclopedia.
Buscaglia, probably the most famous "hugger" in America today, through his teaching and his writing seeks to help people express their feelings of love more intimately with one another.
Tenderness need not be viewed as weakness and sentimentality but rather be seen as something to be shared responsibly with others.
