Words are powerful. A word...

Words are powerful. A word got the world started. Of course the speaker was pretty special. And his verbal arsenal loaded. He said it and it happened. Light, firmament, waters, all the rest of his varied and fascinating creation came from speaking.
Our words are powerful. I'll never forget the teenager who told me to be careful what I said from the pulpit because he'd probaby try whatever I suggested. Our words are mighty. I recently listened around my elders' meeting table and was aghast at how much they said they'd first heard from me.
My friend and mentor, Carlyle Marney, wrote in Faith in Conflict, "Not even the current movie makers know what Leo said to Attila outside Rome that day, but it was enough, and the superstitious Hun turned back with his near million men on a trail he had followed fourteen years, leaving the faith in a strong institutional frame well placed on top of the rotting heap Rome had become. Subsequent incursions did not dislodge it."
