We can expect God to...

We can expect God to help us when we do his will. He does not give us the appointment without its counterpart of anointment. Isaiah could do for the Lord because he heard from the Lord. When we are in the will of God he will be immediately behind us.
Here's an old Chinese fable to illustrate the blessing of God's proximity. A fox was captured by a tiger. The fox said, "You can't eat me, because the gods have made me the leader of all animals." Of course, the tiger did not believe such status had been bestowed on such an unlikely candidate. But the fox offered to prove his statement. "Follow me for just one day and see if any animal anywhere challenges my position of supreme leader." The tiger agreed and, for one day, walked directly behind the fox. Every animal they met fled in panic. The tiger was amazed and agreed the fox was the leader.
Of course, it's not hard to defeat your enemies where there's a tiger behind you.
