The psychologist commiserated with her client. "Frankly, I have found that, at best, life is a struggle."
That is more true than most of us would like to admit. If you have never "hit the pits" in your life, don't get overly confident. Your circumstances are probably most aptly explained by concluding you are long overdue.
Bad things don't just happen to good people, they happen to all folks. From time to time we are negatively impacted by our poor decisions, by the insensitive choices of others, or by circumstances beyond our control. Fortunately, by faith we can do more than muddle through. We can grow and be strengthened by our most difficult expeniences.

Quaker theologian, Douglas Steere, calls those the "peak moments." (Note: P-E-A-K) When we are knocked flat we can "peak into the womb of God from which comes all creation."
The Lord says to all of us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (v. 9).
