"Consider Jesus." If you take the word consider apart, you'll find it came from two Latin words: com (with) and sideris (meaning a star). To consider something is to take the long-range outlook. It is the kind of outlook you get when you have the stars in mind. The stars remind us to take time to ponder and give careful thought. An old pastor in a New England mill town used to preach a sermon once a year on the latest discoveries in astronomy. When someone objected that such sermons were useless, the old pastor said, "Of course, it is of no use at all, but it greatly enlarges my idea of God!" Consider Jesus, "the bright star of dawn" (Revelation 22:16) and he will greatly enlarge your idea of God.
