During Mohammed Ali's later boxing matches, he adopted a strategy which was called "rope-a-dope." At certain times in the fight, he would lie back on the ropes, and put up his arms tight against his face and his body. His opponent was then free to hammer away on him. But seldom did his opponent's punches get through Ali's arms and hands to do any real damage. The strategy was simple: Ali was certain he was strong enough to absorb his opponent's blows and that the opponent would eventually wear himself out striking at him. It was a successful strategy for Ali, because Ali was a very strong man. For a lesser person it would have been disastrous. Are we strong enough to absorb the blows of those who attack us? We are if we rely upon God to give us strength. In Christ we see that even if they destroy us, God will resurrect us. Those who strike out in anger, envy and frustration will eventually wear out. But those who patiently persevere, relying on God's strength and protection, will be vindicated. -- Welborn
