The Pharisee who came to learn something from Jesus is like a certain pastor who was interviewed by a newspaper reporter shortly after beginning his service to a city church. When the reporter asked the new pastor what his plans were for the church, he replied, "I plan to ask a lot of questions for a while. I want to learn as much as possible about these people whom I have been called to serve. I feel that I need to hear them express their needs in order for me to do a credible job of ministering to them. "I plan to word my questions very carefully so that these folks will trust me enough to share their vision of ministry with me. After all, one doesn't share something as intimate as a vision with just anyone. And then, after I have asked lots of questions and actively listened to the answers, I plan to work with them to meet expressed needs. Throughout the process, I pray that our vision of ministry will be expanded greatly. But remember, the key to my plan is asking lots of questions." -- Thompson
