In the comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" by Bill Watterson, the boy Calvin and his stuffed tiger are the only members of their own club, G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy GirlS). Their main purpose is to harass Susy, the only other kid in Calvin's neighborhood. Their only other purpose seems to be trying to make rules about which of them, Calvin or Hobbes, is superior. They are constantly squabbling between themselves as to who has more power, Calvin (Dictator-for-Life) or Head Tiger Hobbes. The result is that they keep kicking each other out of the club, calling each other names, and resorting to mutual declarations of war. Susy, on the other hand, has begun to catch on to Calvin's weakness and lack of preparation, and to fight back with her wits. The result? Calvin is the one on the outside, playing alone, and angry that he's unappreciated. He has no idea that by excluding everyone else, he has isolated himself. -- Herrmann
