My daughter came home from...

My daughter came home from school one day and said to me, "What would you do if you had ten million dollars and one year to live?" "Why are you asking me this question?" I said to her. "It is something we talked about in school today!" I was interested in knowing why they were discussing such things at school, but before I had a chance to ask her, she said, "Tommy said he would move to Disney World and Sarah said she would buy every Sega game. What would you do, Daddy?" "I would spend more time with my family," I said. "I would take an early morning walk and watch a sunrise. I would spend time with friends. Most of all, I would seek comfort in God." "But you haven't spent any money," she said. "You have ten million dollars!" "I know," I said, "But as far as I am concerned, the problem is not how to spend the ten million dollars but how to spend the year." Hopefully in time, she will understand what I was trying to tell her: that the real question is dealing with the issue of having just one year to live -- with or without ten million dollars. -- Frank
