Jack Welfield was a kindly old man at the age of 82. His friends where he lived in the Chicago area described him as friendly and humorous. He was the sort of person who went out of his way to be kind and fair to everyone. But in April 1995, he was driving alone in his car, he had a heart attack and collapsed at the wheel, causing his vehicle to ram into the back of another. Within minutes, no fewer than eight people had gathered at the site of the accident. But what do you think these people did? Did they administer first aid? Did they call 911? No. Those people began to steal parts off his car and went through the dying man's pockets to take any money that he had with him. In the church, sometimes we hesitate to proclaim the way of God to those around us, thinking that it might be unnecessary to do that. But the world desperately needs to hear the truth of the gospel. -- Bowen
