In Jesus` teaching he talks...

In Jesus` teaching he talks about one sowing, but another reaping (John 4:37). Think about how true that is. We take time to plant (sow) a tree, knowing full well that we may not benefit personally (reap) from the shade and beauty it will afford when fully grown. But there are other trees that we do enjoy because of the care and concern of others. There are many circles we start which others complete, and many that we complete that others have started.
I have worked on long-term projects knowing that I would not benefit from them, but that others would. But I have also benefited from the same spirit in others.
John the Baptist started something when he baptized disciples with a promise of something better from One who was to come after him. He sowed the seeds and Paul reaped the harvest. These disciples were prepared to hear a message that had been previously sown. It was not a question that they had to have something correct before they were good enough. The fact was they were ripe with anticipation of a promise to be fulfilled and the words spoken by Paul were a confirmation that they were right on the right
rack. The time had come. They were ready for the harvest.
