It is a strange thing...

It is a strange thing, but those who canvass for charities report that the best givers are usually from the poorer classes. This is borne out by research in this country (Canada) which shows that out of the ten provinces that the best givers are in the financially poorest province. If we give because we feel that we have to give and we bemoan every cent of it, then it is like money lost to us. We count only the debit side of the ledger. On the other hand, if we give because it is a privilege to share with others thereby turning it around so that we are the ones receiving the blessing, then we have gained in assets what money can never buy. How is it that the poor know that, while their richer cousins do not? -- Fairlie
