One Sunday morning a young lad entered the doorway of his suburban home. He was greeted with a smile and a question. The smile was from his mother and the question from his father. Dad wanted to know what Junior had learned in Sunday school that crisp autumn morning. "Well," said the excited youngster, "Mrs. Fitzpatrick told the story from Exodus about how the Israelites came to the Red Sea." The boy said, "The Hebrews pumped up their inflatable boats so they could escape from the soldiers of the Pharaoh." Dad, with a quizzical look, asked Junior if this was really what the story taught the class. He received the following reply, "If I told it the way she did you would never believe it!" Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our faith journey is not, however, always the same. Often our faith falters as we face a mountain to climb, a Red Sea to cross, or a dark valley filled with the shades of dark night. In such moments how refreshing to know that Jesus Christ's love for us is always the same. Jesus is there in all our mood swings, ups and downs, peaks and valleys to lead us across the stormy waters' roar and into the peaceful harbor of his eternal love. Christian faith might be an incredible story for some, but for the disciple of the carpenter from Galilee it is as real as the resurrection of Easter morning. -- Mills
