Jesus knew that touch was...

Jesus knew that touch was important enough to make a person well. So did the leader of the synagogue whose daughter was supposedly dead. So did the woman who was hemorrhaging. They wanted Jesus' touch -- the touch of healing. Cameron also knew this truth. A nurse in Intensive Care, Cameron was dedicated to his patients. One in particular renewed Cam's faith in touch. When Marcus came in, he had a rare disease that was eating his skin. Marcus' parents were beside themselves with worry and did not know what to do. They read to Marcus. They talked to him. And they prayed with him. But they never touched him because of his skin affliction. Marcus slipped into a coma, and his prognosis was very poor. Marcus had been an athlete, a successful young businessman, and a devoted son. Cam felt very helpless. As he started his rounds one morning, Cam prayed for a special insight to help Marcus. His answer came immediately: a healing touch. Cam attended to Marcus' needs quickly and then sat next to him. Cam gently rubbed Marcus' head, then his feet, then his forearms. With the greatest of care, he rubbed Marcus' body and talked to him. That entire day was spent in short intervals of touch. Marcus' parents came in later that evening and took over. Through Cam's example, they felt encouraged to touch their son and pray for him. It was a turning point in Marcus' recovery. Slowly, Marcus' vital signs improved. Soon he was off the respirator, and he finally came out of his coma. It took eight long months for Marcus to recover completely, but his parents and Cam never gave up. Marcus came out of that sterile plastic coma into a world where touch was vital. They all experienced the power of healing through touch.
