Our church hosts a Self...

Our church hosts a "Self-Esteem Support Group." The group is bound together by a common goal, which is to love themselves as God loves them. At the beginning of every meeting all participants are offered an opportunity to speak about the ways they'd learned to love themselves and the difference that self-
love had made in their relationships with God and in their daily lives during that week. Nancy is the only person who doesn't take advantage of this time. That's why the group was so surprised when Nancy said, "I'd like to tell you about my week." "All my life I've been told that I am worthless," Nancy began. "Every time I've come to this meeting, I've listened to all of you talk about how much you'd learned to love yourselves as God loves you, and I've thought to myself, 'God loves me as much as God loves you.' Each week I've left here and I've promised myself that this week I'm going to remember that I can love myself because God loves me. However, it seems as if I don't even have my coat on before I'm running myself down and I'm telling myself that I'm not worthy of God's love. But last week I did something different. As soon as I started to tell myself that God couldn't love me because I'm worthless I prayed, 'Lord God, you created me in your image. Help me to believe that I am worthy of your love. Help me to love myself as you have loved me.' God is answering my prayer."
