One of the meaningful tasks...

One of the meaningful tasks during pregnancy is choosing a name for this new person who is going to come into the world. Family considerations are part of the process. Shall we honor a deceased father or special aunt? Aesthetics are important as we seek a name that sounds good when coupled with the last name. We journey through names such as "Faith," "Moonbeam," or "Rainforest" which might express a message about this new person's uniqueness or mission. After all, Hosea named a couple of his children Lo-ammi and Lo-ruhamah as a prophetic message. Somewhere along the journey a name or two rise to the top so that when it is time to do the paperwork we write "Kristin Faye" or "Christopher Robert" on the appropriate line. Somehow, as the years go by, the name fits and no other name would have done. What more appropriate name could Mary and Joseph have chosen from their experiences and dreams than "Jesus"? The name, meaning "savior" or "God saves," fits like no other.
