Anyone who is a football...

Anyone who is a football fan can tell you, not all actions are equal. In the first quarter a touchdown or a field goal by the home team will generate a lot of excitement. The players will dance in the end zone and the crowd will cheer. On the other hand, a touchdown or a field goal by the visiting team will still the crowd and the stadium will often become almost silent. If it is a good game the teams will go back and forth and the crowd will oscillate between joy and disappointment.
But if the game is close and ends in a tie, the tension mounts a little higher as the teams head into sudden death. Then only one thing is needed -- a score. Once one team scores, the game is over and the outcome is sealed for good. No matter how many great plays led to keeping the game close, when the press conference is held after the game there is one person the reporters want to talk to: the one who scored the winning points.
So the many actions of God's people have contributed much to the course of history, but these acts have not ultimately decided the outcome. It is the work of Christ which is the focus of the Christian message.
