Gepetto, a carpenter, creates a puppet which comes to life. Pinocchio has all the characteristics of a human, a little boy, except he's made of wood. This strange condition creates all sorts of personality problems for Pinocchio. Not sure who he is, he gets into one difficulty after another. In confusion about himself, he turns for support from his "creator father." He tells Gepetto, "Poppa, if I'm all right with you, then I'm all right with me."
