O Little Town of Bethlehem...

"O Little Town of Bethlehem" is one of the loveliest of all the carols. We sing it with warm hearts as the midnight hour comes on Christmas Eve. Our thoughts go back to that little town, long ago, when "Christ the Savior was born."
It's interesting to contemplate how it was that God chose "that little town" to be the place where Jesus would be born. We sometimes say of villages of a hundred or so residents, "It's just a little town."
We need to be careful when we speak disparagingly about a small town. There's a little town in Ohio named New Concord. Just a thousand people live there. From that town came one who became world famous, a hero indeed: John Glenn. He grew up there, went to school there, married a hometown girl. And he has gone into space twice.
