Because of World War II, there were innumerable government programs and procurements. Today we have forgotten the rampant graft, corruption, and self-serving mismanagement that was a significant problem in our country at that time. John Williams was a feed dealer who was in touch with the troubling issues in the poultry industry at the close of the war, including the unwelcomed malfeasance of mobsters. He decided he wanted to do something to help reform our country, so he ran for the United States Senate. Amazingly, even though a political neophyte, he won the election in Delaware.

Object: The object of the lesson is a gesture you will teach the children.

Note: The gesture used both hands. Hold both hands in front of you and make the thumbs-up sign with both hands with both thumbs pointing back at your chest. This is the “ME!” gesture. Then simply rotate your hands back so your thumbs are pointing straight up in the air, like two “OK” signs. This is the “US” gesture.
