Marcion was a man who promoted a second-century heresy. He desired to pare away the Old Testament from the life of the church. In the end, he was unsuccessful. That's because the death and resurrection of Jesus is the climax of more than 2,000 years of faith-filled history. Abraham, Sarah, Joseph, Rebecca, Moses, Aaron, Miriam and so on, are all part of a line of splendor pointing us to Golgotha. The Marcion heresy created division within the church. It sought to separate those who celebrated our Hebrew heritage from those who sought a truncated, anti-Semitic faith.
