The pastor closed the door quietly after he counseled the couple. He had sat down to write his sermon when the telephone rang. He was needed at home. His child was sick and his wife was in a meeting and could not be reached. As he drove home, he thought of his many gifts -- counseling, preaching, fathering, and soon, storytelling with his daughter. "Many gifts," he sighed, "but only one body." Then he remembered it was true for his wife too -- librarian, mother, wife, cook, etc., and for his congregation, the body of Christ, as well.
