We know we ought to love one another, and this includes loving our neighbor as ourself. But sometimes this can be challenging.
Jean Adrien Jusserand, a French diplomat, was the ambassador to Washington during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. On one occasion he was speaking with the president's wife. She said, "Why don't you learn from the United States and Canada? We have a 3,000 mile unfortified peaceful frontier. You people arm yourselves to the teeth." The ambassador replied, "Ah, madame. Perhaps we could exchange neighbors!"
