God loves me just...

"God loves me just the way I am," Allen said with a tinge of doubt.
"That's right," Sarah said. "There is nothing you can do to make God love you more than he already does," she added.
"And there's nothing I can do that will make God love me less," Allen sparred back.
"That's right," Sarah repeated.
"Then, it doesn't matter what I do! I can do anything I want."
Sarah just shook her head. "I didn't say that, Allen."
Allen pressed the matter. "From what you said, though, there are no conditions for God's love. There is nothing I can do to turn him away from me and there is nothing I can do to turn him more towards me."
"That's right," Sarah said. "There are no conditions. God's love is unconditional. But, there are consequences to God's love."
"What do you mean by that?" Allen asked.
"It's not what I mean. God means for us to change. His love changes us to be more engaged with people in helpful ways, not hurtful ways."
Now Allen's interest was really piqued. He asked her to say more about that.
