Entering the hospital room of a dearly beloved parishioner who was dying, I knew it
would be the last time we would talk, as the cancer that was racking her body was dealing
its final blow. My face showed my sadness and grief. Lillian looked up at me and there
was a bright radiance in her eyes. She said to me, "Pastor, I can see Jesus right next to
you and he said my home is ready for me to come home." She took my hand and as I
prayed the prayer of commendation she passed into the arms of her Savior who led her
home. There was a brightness in her face that faded slowly. I knew at that moment I had
been in the presence of the Master and he had taken his dear servant home to safety.
