In 1915, the Turkish army slaughtered over a million Armenians. E. Stanley Jones tells of
an Armenian girl and her brother attacked by Turks in a lane. She escaped by climbing a
wall, but her brother was brutally killed before her eyes. She was a nurse, and later in the
hospital, she recognized one of her patients as the Turkish soldier who murdered her
brother.
The Turk was ill, hovering between life and death. The slightest neglect and he would die. No one would know. She nursed him back to health. When he was convalescing she told him who she was. He was astounded and asked why she didn't let him die. She responded that she was a Christian and that her own master had forgiven those who crucified him. Her words and actions brought that Turkish soldier into the Christian faith.
