As we go through life, it is amazing how many different ways people call out our names
and the meaning around this. One can tell how they are called whether it is joy, concern,
anger, or another emotion.
I remember growing up, how my mother would stand out on the back porch to call her sons in for lunch, dinner, or bath time. If it was the usual call, the first time, it was Jim, Rich, David.... When someone had failed to answer properly, it became James Michael, Richard Alan.... Okay, I'll admit it, she even had to use David Alan a couple of times, too.
In the gospel lesson for today, it is how Jesus calls Mary the first time that reveals how the Savior speaks to us. It is in a garden, a place of life and death. He is risen -- and he calls her in love and life!
