Some wonder where and when...

Some wonder where and when Jesus became aware of his mission as God's only Son.
The Bible yields so little information we can only speculate. Jesus possessed great
awareness at twelve years of age when he stayed at the temple listening to the teachers,
querying them, and amazing them with his understanding.
Frequent reading of the Old Testament no doubt sharpened Jesus and added to his preparation. When Satan tempted him, Jesus promptly and appropriately answered with scripture. I imagine Jesus repeatedly reading Isaiah and the other writings. He understood that everything written about him in the law, the prophets, and the psalms had to be fulfilled. That included becoming the suffering servant Isaiah described.
Most young people look at life with ambitions of fulfillment and reward. Jesus dismissed those aspirations in order to comply with God's will. For our sake, Jesus suffered as a servant perfectly conforming to Isaiah's prediction, and Jeremiah's, and David's, and every other Old Testament prophet's. Thank God his servant Jesus acted wisely. Because he submitted himself, "he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted" and "by his wounds we are healed."
