A recent website offering labor advice cites this scenario: A nurse was hired to work at a
nursing home. She had been a certified nurse for over seven years. Also working at this
home were two other nurses, who had been certified for three and four years,
respectively. In their discussions, it became evident that the nurses weren't being paid the
same wage. In fact, the nurse who had been certified the longest was making up to forty
cents per hour less than the nurse who had been certified three years. She ended her
complaint with the words, "It is not fair."
All kinds of advice was given, but much of it was sympathetic to the "unfairly" hired nurse. One piece of advice matched the parable in Mathew 20 -- it said, "If that was the rate that the HR told you when you were hired, you have nothing to complain about."
