The life of Saint Augustine...

The life of Saint Augustine is an example of how God can transform a life, and how that
transformed life can transform others. In his "Confessions" he tells of his long struggle
with sensuality. In lust he would go from one woman to another, never finding
satisfaction. Faith and unbelief, Christ and the world struggled to gain control of his
soul.
A voice instructed him, "Take and read, Take and read." In obedience he picked up the New Testament, and read: "Let us lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us live honorably as in the day not in reveling and drunkenness ... not in quarrelling and jealousy. Instead put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires" (Romans 13:12-13).
On that very day, the bonds of slavery fell from Augustine. He became a new person in Christ. Released from that bondage, he became a powerful witness to his Lord Jesus.
