I was in a dither...

I was in a dither of details, preparing for a funeral, which seemed to necessitate moving everything physical in the sanctuary and rearranging all parts of worship. Consequently I didn't listen carefully when told who would sing solos in the service. I dashed around until the last moment, trying to do all I could for the bereaved as well as attempting to nudge furniture into a better configuration and to decipher for the organist the typed order of worship covered with cross-outs and arrows.
I didn't realize, until I heard the first note from her mouth, that the tiny girl sitting in the front row was the soloist. She looked like a sixth grader. But I heard a voice as rich as Julie Andrews'.
After that I've never again judged a person by size or age. God can do wonderful things through what we assume to be weak -- like through the cross of our Lord Jesus.
