Prepare the way
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers: Make this Sunday's activity a time for your students
to create Christmas cards to send to an older member of your
congregation. Focus the card's message on today's scripture
passage "preparing the way of the Lord."
Give each student pieces of paper and magic markers or crayons. Have the students fold the paper into the shape of a Christmas card. On the outside students should write "Prepare the way of the Lord." On the inside students may draw a Christmas scene. Have them add "Luke 3:1-6" to the inside below the drawing.
If you have a church photo directory, show students pictures of some of the members of the congregation who will receive the cards. This way, students get to know the recipients.
Parents: Your child created a Christmas card for an older member of the congregation. The card's theme is today's lesson message "Prepare the way of the Lord." You might want to invite your child to create some special Christmas cards to send to family members this year. Doing this may create a more meaningful sense of Advent for your child.
