Teachers: This week we have the familiar story of Mary Magdalene, Peter, and probably John rushing to the empty tomb. It might be fun to do the story news reporter style. Give each student a 12-inch by 18-inch piece of drawing paper, a pencil, and crayons. They could begin by deciding how many pictures they would have their "photographer" take for the story. Draw in three or four squares for the pictures anywhere on the paper. Fill in the squares with a drawing of their choice. Then the words to the news report would go around the pictures. You may want to draw lines and insert empty squares ahead of time. Depending on the ages of the children, the report could be a simple sentence for each picture or a more detailed story line if they are older. Then you need a headline in larger capital letters. Have them share their reports and pictures when they are done.
Parents: Talk about how the three characters all could have seen the same sight at the tomb, but each of them saw something different! Ask them what they would have felt like if they had come to the tomb first.
