SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Small foil loaf pans
Non-hardening modeling clay
Flexible vinyl report cover or other thin, flexible plastic
Permanent markers
Scissors
Bamboo skewers
Glue or tape
Directions:
1. Give each of the children a foil pan and help them form a boat shape by gently pinching one short end of the loaf pans to shape the boat's bow. Restraighten the sides of the pans, if necessary.
2. Give each of the children a one-and-one-quarter-inch wide ball of modeling clay.
3. Tell the children to stick the clay balls onto the center of the boat's floor, making sure they stick them securely into place.
4. Using the plastic, have each of the children draw a triangular sail that is about seven inches on each side.
5. Help the children cut their sails out of the plastic.
6. Have an adult or older child cut a nine-and-one-half-inch length from the bamboo skewer and give one to each child.
7. Tell the children to glue or tape the sails onto the skewers.
8. Have the children insert the ends of the bamboo skewers into the clay in the bottom of their boats.
9. This boat really sails!
