Young children learn only rather...

Young children learn only rather simple things in school. But those simple things need to be learned before the deeper lessons can be comprehended. For example, a child must first learn how to print each letter of the alphabet. And that can be a rather slow and tedious undertaking. But if children do not first learn the alphabet, they will never be able to read. In the same way, children must first learn to count. And only after doing that can they later go on to do algebra and calculus.
