A young boy was with his parents as they walked downtown in a large city. He noticed a homeless man who was begging for money for food and a poorly dressed woman pushing a shopping cart as she wandered up his side of the street.
Later, he asked his parents about what he had seen. They told him that these were poor people without homes who had to rely on others for food and shelter. He asked his mother for several loaves of bread and some peanut butter. Together, they made a bag full of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The next morning they returned to the city where he found several homeless people. He distributed all the food and shook hands with all those he encountered.
His father asked him what made him want to do all that. He replied, "I am never hungry because I can eat whenever I want to. It must be terrible not to have food, so I wanted to help."
