A Wycliffe Bible translator who came as a missionary to Brazil's Fulnio Indians was first
known as "The White Man." Not a compliment, because many white men had taken
advantage of them. Then as he shared medicine, love, and caring, he was known as, "The
Respectable White Man." He continued to reach out to the native people and became
known as "The White Indian."
One day, the missionary treated and washed the dirty, blood-caked foot of an injured boy and as the word of that kind care spread, he was known as "The man God sent us."
