A woman walked into a convenience store and startled an armed robber. The robber fired once, just missing her head, and ran out the door. How does a person respond to an experience like this? After her heart stopped pounding and the adrenaline returned to normal levels, she began thinking about the meaning of life and death, especially death. She became obsessed with the thought, "If the bullet had killed me, would I have gone to heaven or hell?" She couldn't eat; she couldn't sleep; her work performance declined so much that she received a warning from her supervisor.
