The Sundays after Pentecost and Trinity traditionally have focused on the growth in the Christian life. Pentecost sounds the birth of the church, and the weeks following it the maturing of its members. The latter is illustrated clearly in the range and penetrating depth of the biblical texts appointed for Pentecost 4-12.
