What is the value of a good name? The writer of Proverbs considers a good name more valuable than riches, silver, or gold! Apparently the writer of Proverbs is not alone in his estimate of the value of a good name. It so happens that the day I considered this text, the former Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan was acquitted of fraud by a Bronx Jury.
"The jury gave us freedom," Donovan is reported to have said, "but the system denied us justice ... The cost in reputation is priceless, absolutely priceless ... Money never meant that much to me. But my reputation sure did."
