Undertaking a major writing project...

Undertaking a major writing project can be daunting. Eviatar Zerubavel, a sociology
professor at Rutgers University, offers some sage advice. He suggests devising a writing
schedule rather than waiting for bursts of creativity, which seldom come. Some items to
keep in mind when making a writing schedule: decide how much time you can give to
your writing; determine the length of your writing sessions, not too long or too short;
identify the times when you are most and least productive and schedule accordingly;
figure out ways to keep your momentum, especially important on longer projects; break
the project into smaller achievable steps; and set a relaxed pace.
Zerubavel notes that perseverance is the word. It is not so much the speed of your writing that is important but your consistent pace. Of course, one must begin the task in order to complete it, or as J.R.R. Tolkien once said, "It's the job that's never started that takes longest to finish."
God began a good work in us. God is persistent in that work and will bring it to completion right on schedule.
