A trainer of seeing eye...

A trainer of seeing eye dogs was being interviewed by a reporter to learn about his work. The reporter finally asked the question, "What is the most difficult thing that you train one of these dogs to do?" The trainer's response was a little surprising. He said, "The most difficult task we have to teach our dogs is to raise their vision, so they can see what is above them that might harm the person they are guiding. The dogs don't have any problem guiding a person around a pole, or stopping where there is a step-off, or any number of other things. The problem is they are not accustomed to looking above their own height in navigating their environment. We have to teach them to look higher since the person they are guiding may not be able to get under a ladder or some other obstacle."
So it is with Christians. We are so conditioned to looking around our environment as we make our way, we forget to look above to our divine source of our strength and guidance. "Set your minds on the things that are above, not on things that are on earth."
