Today's lesson reminds us that...

Today's lesson reminds us that even the good guys sin. Well-intended leaders do stray
from the way of the Lord and their own convictions. While God forgives them, there are
still consequences to experience.
Walt, a fine man who had a good heart, started a small business. Like all businesses, he had to put many hours into its development. In the process, he grew very close to his small staff, particularly his female office assistant. Workplace relationships become quite intense when the people involved spend more time at work than with their families.
In this case, Walt crossed a boundary with his very nice office assistant one evening at an out-of-town business trip. Realizing later that what he did was wrong, Walt made all kinds of apologies to his office assistant, his family, and other staff. They all forgave him, but the innocence of the new start-up company had been lost. Anytime anybody wanted verbal ammunition to use against Walt within the business, the story of this breach of trust was remembered. God forgave Walt. Life goes on. But things are not quite the same. This was true for the reign of David in Israel as well.
