This third of the Servant...

This third of the Servant Songs emphasizes obedience, endurance even under persecution. Noth entitled it, "The Gethsemane of the Servant."
As with all the servant songs, the identity of the servant is in question. Very likely more than one identity is possible because of the richness of the imagery. In the forefront is the likelihood that the message is aimed at an "Israel-within-Israel" -- a group of people within the nation who were willing to hear, see, speak, and suffer.
