A third grader, Megan, came...

A third grader, Megan, came and sat down next to me on the first night of summer church camp. This was her very first time away from home. The queue for homesick telephone calls home was extra long that night. As we sat on the cold steps in a pitch black night shivering in the crisp air, Megan asked: "Do you ever get scared?"
"Sure I do. Everyone gets a little afraid about things they are unsure of."
Making small talk, she asked: "Can you get unscared?"
"Un-scared? Well, I guess I try to remember that I am not alone. God is there. I thank him for remembering me. God doesn't forget us, you know, Megan."
"Do you have a favorite Bible verse?" Megan asked.
I recited Philippians 4:4-7 from memory. The passage read in every language, every version of the Bible conceals no hidden meaning. God is big and God is in control.
"Gosh, I don't think I could remember all that."
"You don't need to remember all of it tonight, Megan. Just remember five words: "Rejoice!" "Pray!" "Thank you!" "Peace." Those words can carry you through fear. Let each word run through your mind.
Megan printed the entire verse of the back of a business card her dad had given her with his calling card number.
By the end of camp, Megan had the whole verse memorized.
