As they started to sing the pulpit hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy," John said to his daughter Sally, "This is my favorite hymn."
At the end of the sermon, the pastor challenged the congregation not only to believe in the Trinity but to live out that faith in a specific way. "Do something creative," the pastor said, "Do something redemptive," he urged. "Do something this week that will help sanctify someone."
After the sermon, Sally asked her dad, "What does sanctify mean?" "It means to help make someone holy," he replied. "No wonder that's your favorite hymn," Sally said. "You are a special Christian, Dad, and you certainly helped to bring me closer to God."
During the offering, the father's eyes moistened a bit.
